Polish PERN improves oil by mixing clean, dirty oil from Druzhba

WARSAW, Aug 20 (PRIME) -- Polish operator of the Druzhba oil pipeline PERN is mixing crude contaminated with chlorides, which is still stored in Poland, with clean oil to achieve normal quality, Deputy President of fuel group Lotos Jaroslaw Kawula told reporters on Tuesday.

“PERN is making oil blends which meet all quality requirements when mixing them with clean crude… Such oil can be refined safely,” he said.

The problem with the quality of oil coming from Russia to Europe across Belarus via the Druzhba pipeline appeared in April. In Belarus, the pipeline splits into two stings, of which one goes to Poland and Germany, and the other to Ukraine, Slovakia and Hungary.

Kawula also said that Lotos has not yet calculated loss from the emergency.
